Education is the one of the great collaboration waves that the Mid West region can help gift with the world

.at least until we hear otherwise that's how club of city, village and 40 million bookmark searches of collaboration knowledge city will look to the chicago region's main events on

The Economist survey on Chicago March 2006 - identifies eductaion as a great regional resource

Open Space faciliators are debating this news in 20 March 2006:
GW writes:
Youth Empowerment Open Space Conference

I'm planning a one-day open space for youth to create a "Call to Action" to the community.
. The conference is scheduled for April 22, 2006 in Kalamazoo, MI. The Kalamazoo community is alive with collaborative spirit across neighborhoods as we grapple with the impact of the Kalamazoo Promise. The Promise, made by anonymous donors, was a committment to provide every graduate from the public school system the promise a free college tuition to any public higher education institution in the Michigan.

Hope this helps! GW

Eductaion Entrepreneurs is one of the 7 waves our detah of distance future historians have been mapping since 1984 when I helped co-author the start of the Death of Distance (aka The World is Flat) genre with Entrepreneurial Revolutionaries inspied by my father's 1976 syrvey in The Economist

Today we invite all education entrepreneurs to join us at http://www.frappr.com/entrepreneur
see the group forum where a lot of culturally creative debates and pilot projects on education are mobilising

As someone who has only visited Chicago for 3 days but read interviews of what many of its professional leaders believed to be their sectors' futures in the late 90s as the internet revolved around the world, I could be wholly wrong. But here seemed to me to be a city which compared with New York's number 1 professional mass in communications and valuation industyries had always needed to try harder. But when it came to professions going global instead of collaborating with deep localities that needed hi-trust evolution, it raced against New York's going global professions (for a while looking as if it was beating New York as the epeinentre of advice in networked economies, globalisation of local utilities, advising governments on how to attract global business) only to find its professionals had bubbled up their own knowledge as well as all the huge clients they temorarily served. Of course the tragedy if this scenrio is correct (more details) is that it was the system that beat Chicago. I am sure there are as amny good professional people in Chicago as in New York or any other world city...

How can we put Chicago back on the world map as the centre of systemising do no evil governance globally and locally. What other valuecity visions do other sectors have that can lead Chicago to be as good for the world in the next decade as it had been at ist best in the 20th C?

Emerging The 5 Question Styles London uses to Charter Joint Number 1 as Collaboration Knowledge City

Who from our City does the world most respect for integrity of relevant future visions as well as networking Commonwealth relationship transparencies with people of all cultures?

Where are the open spaces that people movements can meet, plant, become global village partnering networks

How does our city co-create an economics that sustaining values families and long-run productivity learning curves around contexts that we have a future or history in? What’s the one greatest jewel the people have invested in that it has not be connected with serving the world because of short-term or sepration goals on national governance

What microcommunities and women’s networks out of our city could change leadership all over the world given these aspects of cross-multiplying diveristy were wholly untried in the 20th C of superpowering male leadership

Where are the community centre hubs that will sustain deep purpose ideas (and sector such as health, teaching, arts as participative integration of communal transparency across cultures) however long they take to scale (given that some of the greatest changes people need recur starting a goodwill wave from one hi-trust person’s action learning to another – a process that cannot be fast burned nor is currently being funded by any 20th century typology .com. .gov, ,ngo, .media, .pro, .edu) because it connects instead of starting in anyone of their systems

Breaking Views from ClubofLondon current #1 in collaboration knowledge city bookmarks (votes over 40 million)

This week saw world water day come and go with less than a ripple. Did Londoners know how they could have contributed more news on this around the world? no matter

Next week is arguably the biggest in the calendar for gifts to the world Londoners as number 1 collaboration knowledge city can start up, and make the next 6 years marathon of make poverty history connect all around the world

With Al Gore visiting the twin cities of London and Oxford, we cannot imagine a better time to Launch the Social Entrepreneur Olympics. The game is to have got 30 gravity pursuits of social entrepreneur world champions into the public consciousness by 2012 as much as the top 30 sports.

All we need is love and courage to cheerlead cross-cultural creativity's waves:

The Livingstone has got us off to a great start; he has declared there will be no sporting Olympics in London in 2012 unless they are carbon free - turn up the heat on every politician since only photosynthesis innovations can produce clean energy of that sustainability magnitude. Make sure all those who host Al Gore events debrief him as the clock to 2012 counts down

The lessons to be learnt from Make Poverty History from pop stars down can be an epiphany if University of Stars and the BBC turn their minds to the greater transparencies (eg end all country corruptions) needed if Make Poverty History is to be a reality network not just an image-making one

So that's 28 more gravity pursuits we need to celebrate around social entrepreneurs with as much gusto as the 20th Century hailed sporting stars

We are reminded of one Harrison Owen story I should tell because open spacing education is a social entrepreneur pursuit every family can stand up for whereas we cannot all help on the ground with projects in Africa or in the roofs that algae use to convert the sunshine into cleansing energy banks.

He was studying to be a priest around the Washington Dc area. It was a time when Martin Luther King was having a dream. Harrison can't recall quite how it happened but he was standing in a civil rights field in a crowd of African Americans - one tall lanky white man. The police were beginning to charge on the crowd and Harrison was feeling quite scared. That is until a 7 year old black girl came up to him - and said Mister will you hold my hand

Since that day, Harrison gave up the priesthood to the chagrin of most of his family. And is one of the handfuls of people who most interconnects conflict resolution facilitators around the world. Their networks criss-cross all religions that believe in golden rules of reciprocity such as so unto another what you want done unto you. They also connect mathematically - if Einstein is correct here at http://clubofdc.blogspot.com - to Gandhi as the greatest inventor of peaceful social entrepreneurial revolution that 144 years of The Economist's coverage of this most productive of all professions.

If some of this post makes sense to you, why not re-edit the parts you like and send it to the board of Governors of the BBC, and should you wish Tony Blair or another politician well with their legacy why not copy them in to. We the British people, not any of our political representatives own the BBC. We have invested way over 50 billion pounds in this corporation. On a personal note to all scots- may I ask whether you feel the inventor of television would feel proud of a television where every big debate is framed one dimensionally around short-term left and right rivals or whomever is looking fore a job with big business if the party does not turn out Trumps for their apprenticeship to network power.

It is high noon for the BBC with its 10 year licence determined by and for the people in the year of 2o06. Please could our world service be one of British Character we can feel both pride and humility in searching for. Please free your journalists for humanity to take a fearless lead in realising this open source script from 1984 , so that trust across peoples everywhere begins to flow through every documentary inquiry that has anything to do with world peace or nightly newscast on poverty's challenges through 2012 - and through these communications help the British to get to know 30 gravity pursuits of Social Entrepreneurs with as much joy and attention as the 30 sports it spend most public licence fees on. Hey when Brits helped to invent most of these sports we surely never intended they would take over from greater British realities of world service, through believing in CommonWealth principles and our Queen's higher order right to ask us as she did in her end of 2005 broadcast to unite in preventing globalisation from turning humanity on itself.

For the same of deeper democracy blossoming and connecting every coordinate on earth, you can also play a jigsaw mapping game aimed at sustaining 2 million global villages. Here's part of my family's tree which may open up some useful connections- what connections could your family tree or that of your peer networks open source. If you can make a "peer or family tree" picture why don't we play the mixed networking games of swap and snap. If we are going to turn around globalisation’s exponentials sustainably in time, we are all going to have to work with whatever grassroots community contexts up we can help each other navigate. No lead is too small as long as it is one you intend to gravitate transparently around as part of you lifelong learning mission. We need to help change children's education now so that the core human rights of freedom and happiness have a chance to breathe nature's clean waters, airs and energies everyone human beings sing her praises. Let's all turn up the courage through every family in the land and into wherever co-mentoring networks in internet space may take A B C D E F you

The Economist's Special Report on Chicago by Grimond, Issue March 18 2006

Rather rosier than I might have expected

Because of Andersen's size as number 1 accountant in USA and number 1 to the new economy, an awful lot of Chicago's centre of gravity as a profesional services city (number 2 only to New York) must have vaporised

Nor does Chicago as home of United benefit from an airline that loves its region the way South West Airlines does

Its claims as a Global City seem to be talked up by resident author Saskia Sassen, noth of University of Chicago and London School of Economics

Chicago, capital of the Midwest region, does have a fantastic cluster of Universities with Chicago perhaps at their hub. These are referred to as making up the Committee on Institutional Coperation: Univaersities of Chicago, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Michigan, Michigan State, Northwestern, Ohio State, Penn, Purdue, and Winconsin-Madison

Our correspondent in DC writes:
So what's the State of The Union now the www revolves all our tomorrows around Death of Distance, World is Flat? connections, collaborations...

Apparently it is facing a gathering storm whose first 2 space races to be free are:
end US addiction to petroleum addiction
do what you can so that kids love exploring science more thah spactating sports or popping idols

That's joy D as it goes. Only trouble is those are system revolution games and one sub-optimal crossroads may like the proverbial snake viciously spiral you in the opposite direction that your faith intended. And faith that excludes transparent mapping's 360 degree Q&A is now the riskest goverance to be led with. Mr Bush early in your first administration researchers at Georgetown Law School & Brookings Economics Institute did inform your executives of the compound risks of Unseen Wealth Governance but they were shown the door as if goodwill maps have no value in exploring entrepreneurial revolution let alone transparently guiding people to feel safe about changing the world peacefully

Footnote:22 years ago, I started navigating death of distance stories - the 3rd part of an entrepreneurial revolution trilogy with my father who had spent a career inteviewing leaders from all over at The Economist.

It may be very unpopular in some quarters, but scots like my dad and I (probably over 80% of Scots, because that's how many live and network outside scotLAND) think the idea of living in one place is becoming maddening just as the mass media's lowest common definition of most new media tools' use is. Take WEB LOG. WE blog. How did early sea captains log their discoveries of different cities and trading places in a way that integrated a worldwide trading map? Does this not mean there's a double loop to valuing a city or any place: what its inhabitants have spent longest practising, empassiononing "TIMES" what a visitor sees most uniquely useful to collaboratively, sustainably trade with?

This has both theoretical and deep practical applications if you sail with it. In terms of economics, the people -all 6 billion beings of us (and our lifetime's most open projects http://project30000.blogspot.com ) must unite to ensure the maths transparenctly maps sustainability for at least 2 million global villages (whether place or action learning gravitated) not an economics of numbers ruling solely so that the big gets bigger. Where I put economics you can insert other fi-fo--professional words: accounting, financing, investment, governance, law, communications as media and mediation. They are all ruled by a giant mathematical mistake of ignoring compound exponentials - http://exponentials.blogspot.com (please don't ever do that ask Einstein, Gandhi, Von Neumann if you have read one of their works on the subject http://clubofdc.blogspot.com )

In terms of practice: if we want to be world citizens, why not start with collaboration (its the connecting value multiplier whereas competition is the separating one). I have spent quite a lot of te last 2 years searching through the nearly 50 million bookmarks on collaboration knowledge city; if you have generated one of these why not check our our emerging guided tour at http://clubofcity.blogspot.com and if your city or most open network for how to change the world isn't there yet, start it up as ablog and tells us how to co-promote it.

Emotionally most of all (as is our species trust http://trueflow.blogspot.com , http://simplysee.blogspot.com ), if you are an adult do not forget that if you dismiss death-of-distance Q&A (just because most conventional bloggers of even today's economist on new media does): ask what on earth will happen to the education of our children ?(and their compound futures http://globalcharters.blogspot.com , http://social-entrepreneur.blogspot.com ) should I be at least a few degrees correct in asking -nay begging - you to go beyond only top down nations as a way of democratically mapping world trade.

If we can't work on math of unseen wealth goverance, how about grading it?

I am mailing this out across a sample of communities I have known (some 30 years long today) to see what sort of response it generates--keep you posted it if it waves goodwill anywhere

UPDATE ON OPEN SOURCE PRODUCTS DIRECTED TOWARDS ABUNDANCY OF THE PEOPLES ECONOMICS & NETWORKING
2006 is our 30th birthday party (launched as a leadership survey at The Economist in 1976) of working with preneurs on the next revolutionary wave of the peoples economics. So far we have tracked 5 major preneurial waves of historically missing culturally enrichening economics, and in interconnecting them we have discovered 3 primary dimensions against which corporate (or any) 21st Century peoples trust-flow governance system can be graded

3 Sustainability Exponential – does this governance system sustain (exponentially compound up) the best interests of all who it involves through time in deepest relationship commitments of both productive and demanding kinds.

2 Is this governance system concerned to ensure no silo or boundary cancers wherever it interacts with resources of global business partners or local societies. This transparency mapping dynamic is the most innovative (and so also at highest risk of corrupting simultaneous conflict) system quality emerging from networks and value multiplying which is truly global and local.

1 At any molecular level of productive and demanding life linking through time to the governance system, are healthy value exchange molecules maintained by auditing risk of conflicts emerging from win-win tensions all around the way people visualise productive and demanding relationships as they serve each other through hi-trust actions, learning and change stimulated by preserving the integration of value-multiplying purpose

Currently we see two main ways to play this new network-fit economics around every vital locality of the world.

A If you have access to a governance system because you are co-creating it, investing in it, applying for a job that participates systemically with it – then we can help you map and audit the simplest ways of evolving governance which is hi-trust (and very risky unless) all involved network around value multiplication’s compound exponentials (representable as future upcurves or downcurves that can already be assessed and around which true strategy needs to be tailored)

B Issue traffic light gradings to associations or forums that debate or offer forms of corporate governance as to how close their mathematics and system rules are to being best at 1*2*3 we will be training people to do this at country city and global village levels through co-blog learning modules contextualise locally through our blogspot families catalogued at ClubofCountry (where India and China need this collaborative exponential maths very urgently) and ClubofCity and ClubofVillage (where we continue to work on connecting http://project30000.blogspot.com and 2 million global villages of 2 types – those in greatest need, those lurking in big cities that could twin with greatest need and wave extraordinary win-wins of value multiplication over a generation http://value100.blogspot.com ). We can often provide a checklist of a handful of questions which enable grading of governance systems that wholly miss any of the 3 dimensions to be done very quickly. We will demonstrate this aspect of Unseen Wealth reformation at http://intangibles-valuation.blogspot.com

If individually or in groups you have a context of either of these sorts that you would like to clarify further with me at wcbn007@easynet.co.uk and those closest to 30 years of ER and its goals such as project30000 please do.

Did the greatest professional companies get ruined

SUMMARY
This is no doubt in my mind (and biograpgies of the early Arthur Andersen) that when Arthur Andersen founded his firm - it was based around we try harder to be the most ethical (living up to the hippocratic oath of being measurably true and fair which was as I understood it the only reason why the publ;ic licensed large accountants the semi-monopolies to rule over all our working lives). Being in Chicago, instead on New York the world centre of markets, required an edge. Ehtical, highest trust used to be it when Anderson was starting up, and while it initially grew. But by the time Andersen claimed to be the most central professional service in the whole of the new economy and its knowledge management, the firm was spinning a most opposite vicius spiral from the one Arthurs had nurtured.

I have a personal experience with the ad agency Leo Burnett which suggests somewhat of a similar pattern , though of course I am not suggesting that Burnett deserves the total zeroising of valuation by society that Andersen did. Still Leo was one of the admen any market researcher or other innovator would have given anything to work with; whereas from the 1990s on, I have believed that brands 1 2 3 are incredibly powerful communal gravities but the way I charter and value them is almost exactly the opposite of addicting them to large executional budgets. Some top people at Leo Burnett implied they wre interested in thsi second type of brand consultance,,then did everything I could imagine and more to ruin what I call brand architecture or brand trasnaprency or brand sustainability depending whom valuetrue 1 2 is trying to connect goodwill branding and leadership systemically with.

A BIT MORE
My career has long viewed Chicago as a professional no-go area. In the early 1990s, I worked as a corporate brand (transparency of productivities * demands mediating architecture) valuation consultant at one of the big 5 firms but my insistence that trust and promise were valued to compound true purpose was not the global accounting sector's standard, thanks largely to AA (and the rush by the big 5 to corner a global market with a historic standard even as it became 90% irrelevant to any boardroom's governance of the future as demonstrated by Unseen Wealth research coordinated in 2000 out of Brookings and Georgetown Law School)
In Arthur Andersen, you had what was founded as the most ethical accountant turn on humanity in its last years to be the most disastrous abuse of professional (do * compound no human relations evil) hippocratic oaths globalization has seen - one who has I must say wasted much of my professional (mathematician's) life since the way I value transparency makes wholly opposite business and social cases from how Andersen flipped both the dotcom economy (it had more key accounts in that area than any other), utility (ie human rights economies) eg Enron, government -eg it advised the UK Labour party on how to come to power with a "stealth" tax which took 10 billion a dollars a year out of people's pensions (destroying the transparency of pension industries just when the UK was first to confront the baby boom bubble due to being the first EuroEconomy to recover from world war 2)
You also had a great ad agency whose founder used to realise reach for the star visions but by the time I applied for a job there after my 1996 book http://brandchartering.blogspot.com was very conflicted, profiting from image-making instead of reality making of Unique Organising of Purpose (Going global and local with Hi-trust UOP is NOT USP).
Still now I know some people who want to clean up Chicago, I will start http://clubofchicago.blogspot.com and see if the village open network models we at http://clubofvillage.blogspot.com have been using in London and Washington DC can apply in Chicago
PS I suppose every cloud has a silver lining. Around 1998, I was not as obsessed with cataloguing conflict resolution facilitation methods as I am now. Accidentally, what opened my eyes was the confidentiala privilege of reading what the top 50 people of Arthur Andersen identified as their future in one hour interviews collected at the time that Andersen was splitting off from what became Accenture. If ever 50 people have led any organisation with so many conflicts between their own future views, I hope never again to be anywhere near the gravitational fallout of a worldwide sector with such pivotal influence over what people can do with network economies a script of many iterative revolutions we have been open spacing since 1984 http://deathofdistance.blogspot.com and http://entrepreneurialrevolution.blogspot.com .
